CHALLENGE: Architectural restoration of a 16th century house, to adapt it to the architectural program of a restaurant.

SOLUTION: Conditioning of the interior space with characteristic elements of the Caribbean culture, generating different environments by combining textures, colors and materials.

Located in the historic center of Cartagena, Mar de Leva is an architectural restoration project that combines the tropical style of Caribbean culture with luxury design elements.

The main design challenge is to adapt the architectural program of the restaurant to a 16th century building without having to modify its original structure. To achieve this, one of the strategies was to use the concept of an open kitchen, for which the perimeter walls of the central patio are opened; In this space a large area of outdoor tables is projected along with a bar. Additionally, respecting the existing walls, rooms with table areas are created, each one endowed with unique identities where the combination of different textures, colors and patterns on floors and walls constitute a unique experience for users.

The end result is a renewed image of the space, endowed with an eclectic appearance, which together with the combination of vegetation, furniture and decorative lighting manages to merge the tropical colonial style with the modern and elegant trends of the world.

Located in the historic center of Cartagena, one of the most beautiful cities in Latin America. Mar De Leva is a project that combines the tropical style of Caribbean culture with a high-end design. The eclectic interior elements are a combination of traditional Colombian craftsmanship and luxury.
